Product development is the development of new products or the redesigning of existing products.

Redesigning a product can be done to improve the overall looks, to integrate several functions, reducing the production costs or to produce the product more environmentally-friendly.

The development of attractive technical and mechanical products is a fairly complicated process. Just a thorough technical background isn't enough for an industrial designer. When a product is developed, the first thing to do is to make a good concept. It has to look good, be safe and user-friendly and has to be marketed the right way. Also the product needs to be environmentally-friendly.
